ALTAR CARE INFORMATON
**If you cannot fulfill your duties on the scheduled designated date it is up to you to switch with someone else.**
Altar Care Duties
Vacuum and Dust Sanctuary and Sacristy
Refill Holy Water Fonts at the church entrances
Refill votive candles: Extra candles are in the north side room in the Sacristy.
Remove metal tab in the bottom of the glass. The screwdriver is helpful.
Lift wick so it is pointed up making it easier to light.
Clean flower vases from the previous week before putting them away.
Check on your flower bouquets after 2 days to replenish water and remove any flowers that unexpectedly wilted. The hot summer weather tends to turn the water green sooner which shows up in the clear vases.
If you don’t think your flowers will last all week please check them again or have someone else check them.
Wipe up any spilled water on the altars.
If possible arrange the flowers in the vases outside. If you arrange them inside the Sacristy make sure the area is clean and dry when you are done. Place any trimmings in the large garbage cans at the back of the church for the Garbage Service to pick up or take them home. Do not put any plant material in the trash container inside the church.
Volunteers are paired up and take turns about once every 5 months.
If you have any questions contact JoAnn Keeley: djkeeley@stpaultel.com or 503-508-2767 and please leave a voicemail if I don’t answer.
